ABSTRACT
As at the end of 2019 we are at a possibly pivotal place in history. There are many parallels with the world of 100 years ago. As in 1919, today we have political leaders who are more interested in their own power than they are in the overall future of mankind. President Donald Trump is in a long line of leaders who have demonstrated one do not need to be a ‘good’ leader in order to further one's personal agenda. Since 2016 Trump has demonstrated the sort of leadership the world does not need as we move into the future. Almost certainly he will continue to do this until 2024. The evidence is clear that the right sort of capitalism can be of benefit to everyone. All that we need in order to have strong, vibrant, successful economies is to have a society in which the benefits are shared equitably and in which we operate in an ethical manner.
