ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the question, ‘where different people see the same situation from different personal perspectives, to what extent can we claim that our subjective view (even if unconsciously subjective) is objectively more accurate than that of others?’ The impact of Trump’s use of Twitter and the role of partisan media, such as Fox News, is briefly explored in relation to their support of Trump’s contention that his perception is always ‘right’. The relevance of a time in history where people seek soundbites, rather than in-depth analysis, is highlighted as is the probability of Trump behaving differently in the event of him being re-elected in 2020.
