ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the status of the USA in 2019 and how this has changed in the short period of only three years. The difference between the symbolism of activities as portrayed by Trump and the reality of activities as demonstrated by behaviours of third parties, such as Korea and Turkey, is explored. External issues are then followed by an examination of internal issues such as racism and prejudice, human rights, the environment, the poor and the disadvantaged, and political lobbying. The point is made that, under Trump, the personal desires of the President, big business and powerful lobbyists, takes precedence over anything else.
