ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the creation of a wise workplace. We must strive for a diverse community that is adaptable and rich in knowledge and collective wisdom. As a community of social learners, we can demonstrate, organize, and grow collective wisdom. Our organizations are filled with knowledgeable workers, knowledge management specialists, and human resource development professionals who have long-proven models and methods to transfer information and knowledge. The central idea of building collective wisdom in organization is to create a better future for their community. The critical skills needed by today are not job-based technical skills, but career-based soft skills. Workplace community resilience, adaptability, and connection allow our workforce to adapt to changing market conditions and challenges, recover and adapt to adverse conditions, and connect with others that support and advance cohesiveness and performance. Collective wisdom is not simply shared knowledge and learning, though it’s a great start, but building a workforce that learns, adapts, and grows together.
