ABSTRACT

This chapter revisits the debates and conversations around intersectionality first introduced in Part One of the text. Namely, the author reflects on the decisions he made concerning the relationship between intersectional theorizing and the study of identity in higher education. He argues that the study at the heart of the book represents an example of how to use intersectionality’s focus on power to reveal new perspectives on identity, rather than seeing the two as oppositional. Next, he also returns to the tensions that exist between intersectionality and queer studies. Of note, he considers how frameworks in queer studies may have revealed different ways of seeing the stories offered by Queer Students of Color in this text. Following this, he generates a few recommendations for future research that intends to mobilize intersectional theorizing in higher education. He concludes the chapter by pushing for a continuous reimagining on the reach of intersectional theorizing in education.
