ABSTRACT

An artist manager will become involved in an artist’s career at a point mutually agreed upon by the artist and manager; the scope of the manager’s work and responsibilities should be defined at that point. The artist manager should have a part in the planning and execution of the artist’s live performance career – even when business specialists, such as booking agents, become involved.

This chapter will examine the details of the manager’s role, their considerations for live performance, the potential revenue for the manager from live performance, and the business structure of the partnership between artist and manager.
