ABSTRACT

One of the well-known management textbooks that discuss beliefs, actions and results is Journey to the Emerald City written by Roger Connors and Tom Smith. While focusing on creating – or changing – the people beliefs, it is important not to lose sight of the key objective which is to take actions to achieve the desired outcomes. External factors can include the Bank of England’s base rate change, a government incentive programme (stamp duty exemption, tax incentive scheme, etc.), market price (being low so more affordable, or increasing and soon becoming unaffordable) or similar factors. Internal factors are more personal such as the need to be independent, getting married, a salary increase, having sufficient savings and receiving some inheritance money. Any factor individually can be the trigger for taking actions, but any combination of them can drive actions more effectively, and in fact, the more the better.
