ABSTRACT
We begin this chapter by exploring how lasting romantic pair-bonds might be conceptualised as, in part, an attachment relationship. The second section considers how social and personality psychologists have measured individual differences in interpersonal attachment orientation (‘attachment styles’) among adults. In the third and final section, we consider religion and spirituality as another domain of experiences of close relationship studied from an attachment point of view.
