ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the main themes and concepts of the book. It outlines the context of contemporary migration to Australia and the key literatures relating to migration, motherhood, and digital cultures, to which this book contributes. In terms of methodology and methods, this chapter contains reflexive considerations of the author’s positionality as a migrant mother researching migrant motherhood and outlines the research methods of the study on which this book is based. Conceptually, the chapter introduces the key frameworks of matricentric feminism and relationality and introduces some of the key concepts of the book, namely relational settlement, affective settlement, and migrant maternal imaginaries. Finally, it provides an overview of the remaining chapters.
