ABSTRACT

The pursuit of architecture as a profession is a life-long learning experience. Understanding the different procurement and contractual routes under which the office is delivering architecture is important, as it helps to learn where student evolving experience might be lacking from job to job. Students are well equipped to make a lasting contribution not only to the architectural profession, but also to society as a whole. As student career develops they must remember to design their pathway through the profession, maximising their strengths and skills. These skills may not necessarily be in design or architectural visualisation – they could equally well be in job running, contract management, securing work, or a mixture of all these and other activities. Having assimilated knowledge with practical experience, the student sits the examination, which includes scenario-based problems and a case study of a project in the office.
