ABSTRACT
Accurate energy modelling is critical to creating a successful building. Architype work very closely with engineers as part of the design team, but also have a good technical understanding of how to make buildings work. The tools are used in an iterative way to frame the brief requirements against the requirements of Passive House or other energy or carbon targets. Architype monitor how their buildings perform through post-occupancy research, staying with a project to ensure building users know how to operate it for optimum performance, and applying the lessons learned to improve future designs. Architype disseminate knowledge internally and externally, including sharing strategies that have been proven to work from post-occupancy monitoring. Architype are seeing a lot of client interest in using Passive House as the best route to achieve healthy buildings with good air quality, as well as the recent moves to account for embodied carbon in Passive House assessment.
