ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of Mr. and Mrs. Hoovers who run a wholesale business in wide-screen televisions. In the regions Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe and Overijssel they are sole traders for three brands, bought directly from the importers. The brands and importers are: from Japan: Sawaki JSC, importer, Amsterdam; from America: Superset, importer Meroga LLC, Enschede; and from France: Valder, importer Manders, Groningen. The wide-screen televisions are sold to three retail chains specialising in audiovisual equipment. Products and invoices are sent to the chains’ headquarters, which take care of further distribution themselves. In order to set the price of the business, a balance sheet was prepared. The chapter presents a table that shows list of accounts receivable. It explains how Hoovers uses several ledger accounts.
