ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors consider the various roles that a business administration professional can carry out. The power of the business administration approach lies in the fact that it is multi- and interdisciplinary. The varied nature of business administration ensures that the practitioner learns to look at problems in various ways. Shared values are the cement that holds the current organization together and gives form to new dreams. An important point of departure for thinking about knowledge management was provided by Nonaka and Takeuchi. Many business administration professionals have consultant roles. A business administration professional can work as an internal adviser with a large organization. A business administration professional is not by definition a manager, and a manager is not by definition a business administration professional. Communications managers are to be found in various places and at various levels.
