ABSTRACT
This chapter expresses a different meaning of the word conflict. It expresses a cultural conflict which arises when two people experience a cultural difference from one another. The chapter sketches a picture of how the knowledge and competences from this book come together which can be used in practice to enter into and resolve cultural conflicts. The cultural differences were not or hardly recognized and this led to frustration and a feeling of failure. This case is a good example amongst capable people who work at a high level where the lack of intercultural competences is decisive between success and failure. Making a cultural dialogue a success is perhaps one of the most difficult competences that a professional should have. Often, multiple cultural conflicts have to be overcome to get the far. The word conflict is taken from the Latin ‘conflictus’ which means ‘collision’ or ‘struggle’.
