ABSTRACT

This chapter briefly summarizes several of the key points presented elsewhere in the book. First, the conclusion reminds the reader of the Positive Technological Development framework that adults can use to recognize beneficial psychosocial engagement in young children’s play with technology. Second, it reinforces Bers’ metaphor that digital tools can function like playgrounds in supporting children’s growth and development. Third, coding and computational thinking are considered as separate from traditional STEM fields, and instead reimagined as a literacy with which children can become fluent storytellers, problem-solvers, and creative artists, using code as their expressive medium.
