ABSTRACT

There are many types of cuffs; this chapter focuses on two types of cuffs — straight cuffs and shaped cuffs. The straight cuff — also known as the single button shirt cuff — can have the facing included – which is what is represented in the chapter. The shaped cuff follows the shape of the wrist end of the sleeve pattern. After tracing, the cuff can be flared by using the slash and spread method. The width for the cuff is a recommendation and can be adjusted according to the desired width based on the design. The placement of the button and buttonhole on the cuff should be centered between the outer edge of the length and the fold line, but the spacing for the edge of the buttonhole and center of the button should correspond to the instructions in the chapter on Buttons and Buttonholes and is determined by the size of button.
