ABSTRACT

Once people have their basic slopers draped or drafted, they can now modify them based on design choices. This chapter explores ways to alter the basic slopers and manipulate them to create alternate looks. Moving darts with the Pivot Method is a faster way to move the darts. By pivoting one can quickly relocate the darts as needed for the design. For the first few sections, the darts will be relocated. Later sections will convert the darts to gathers or to seam lines. It is important to note that the shaping darts are not eliminated, but instead are converted to another shaping method. Combined dart is used for removing one of the darts and combining it with another already existing dart. The method known as “slash and spread” is useful for creating fullness in areas that previously did not have fullness. There are three types of gathers: Dart Equivalent, Added Fullness, and Combination of Dart Equivalent and Added Fullness.
