ABSTRACT

My first Meisner class with Scott Williams, in a tiny room in the upstairs second floor of the Actors Centre in London, changed my life. At the time, I was struggling to find my voice on my master’s degree and was living in a noisy ten-bedroom hostel as I was desperately searching for a single room (I had been accepted into my program of study about ten days before it was due to start which gave me less than two weeks to upend my life in the States and move across the pond). Between the course load, barely sleeping at night, and feeling in general like a fish out of water, I was a mess. I needed to find some kind of outlet that would give me the training I was needing. Drama school was a different approach than I was used to, and it wasn’t cutting it for me.
