ABSTRACT

The purpose of the exercise is to simply generate a necessary and vital conversation about investing in the reality of doing, as well as to highlight that there is a power in starting with authenticity rooted in reality rather than persona or pretence. Words will be different, exercises will change, and rhetoric and theory may be contradictory. For just about every Meisner teacher out there, there are that many different ways to teach the subtler elements of the technique. The Meisner Technique, pioneered by Sanford Meisner in the mid-twentieth century, boasts an impressive clientele of some of the world’s most renowned actors. Sanford Meisner imported it directly into his work. The concept is called ‘public solitude’. True to its name, it simply means to be alone in public. Public solitude is a healthy concept for a leader.
