ABSTRACT
This chapter describes how the disavowal of vulnerability encouraged by neoliberalism produces neoliberal versions of subjectivity. My focus is on elaborating the perverse fetish structure of neoliberal narcissism as it appears in the white middle class. Through three clinical vignettes, I argue that understanding the damaging psychosocial effects of neoliberalism can help clinicians make technical choices that counter the tendency in the clinic to reproduce neoliberal versions of subjectivity.
