ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 reviews the procedures and analyses for this study, including the four methodological frames that guide it: interpretivism, positionality, Black feminist epistemology, and intersectionality. In this chapter, the author discusses their interpretive qualitative approach to data collection and analysis and reflects on the influence of their own lived experiences in shaping this monograph’s research design and interpretations. This chapter signifies Black masculinity in gay men’s pornography as a subverted cultural knowledge and then delineates this knowledge through an intersectional perspective. Lastly, Chapter 5 explains the process through which data for this research were collected from the text and images of the most popular videos available on Xtube.com and then analyzed through a grounded theory method of coding.
