ABSTRACT
This chapter identifies contemporary health status and health care inequalities in the United States. Using a Critical race theory lens, particular attention is paid to the perennial nature of these inequalities for Native Americans and Black Americans by way of an historical examination of their development. Also examined in this chapter using a conflict theory lens was the historic and ongoing quest for health care reform in America.
