ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the methodology for data collection and analysis for this explanatory sequential mixed methods study. The delineation of the instruments and rationale for their formatting leads to a description of how the collected data was analyzed. For example, the wide range of categories addressed in both instruments reflects the overarching nature of race, as described through a Critical Race Theory (CRT) lens. Statistical analysis procedures were used for quantitative data coming from the survey. Coding procedures were used for qualitative data coming from the interview transcripts. The detailed description of the methodology is intended to provide other academic researchers with the pertinent information in the event they are interested in conducting a follow-up or related study. This chapter identifies limitations and delimitations, which reappear in Chapter Five when discussing implications for future research as well. The analysis presented in this chapter depicts the data in a series of tables from both the quantitative and qualitative portions of the study. The data are then delineated as a series of six findings.
