ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the findings discussed in the preceding chapters, bringing them together under a holistic view of the DFG framework. It considers also how existing theories of motivation can be situated within the meta-theory. The chapter also considers the social challenges and opportunities that language policy presents specifically in terms of agentive and non-agentive language learning motivation. Tentative consideration of pedagogical implications is developed, along with possible future research directions, discussing how subsequent qualitative work could build on the quantitative understanding generated in the book.
