ABSTRACT

The Turkish invasion into northern Syria created pressure on Kurdish militias and Syrian forces affiliated with the Syrian government and led to the transformation of the military balance in the region. Significant power vacuums are present in various countries, notably Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, and Iraq. Despite there is no direct link between a failing state and Islamic extremism, failed states may provide a vital ground for the rise of radical ideas and its realization. The idea of Caliphate cannot be destroyed and there will always be attempts among radicals to restore and implement the “true path of Islam” by violent means. Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi is by name linked with the al-Qurashi tribe, associated with the ruling tribe of Mecca at the time of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, and belonging to the main clans with a noble status within Islam.
