ABSTRACT

The third chapter provides a detailed overview of the “political system” created by Daesh. The main aim of this chapter is to reveal the nature of the political institutions from central to local level and the thematic scope dealt with by these institutions (sectoral approach) to determine whether the political system of Daesh has a monist centre of power. It answers the questions on what is the centre of power within the regime and what is its relation to other powers or institutions? Another important question answered is who holds the power, who rules, and what are the limits of this rule? The chapter is based on a rational synthesis of smuggled documents, expert studies, and a critical assessment of Daesh own propaganda.
