ABSTRACT

The economy and its structure provide useful information about the nature of the regime. The main aim of this chapter is to demonstrate the unique position of Daesh among other terrorist groups or insurgents. For this reason this chapter deals with the analysis of income (including oil, gas, natural resources, taxes etc.) and costs associated with the management of the regime. It is not the aim of the chapter to focus on particular details of economic governance and destruction but rather to identify key features of the economy which distinguish Daesh from other terrorist groups and what has implication for the nature of the regime. The chapter may help to find answers for how the economic system of Daesh’s regime is organized and what role ideology plays within the economy?
