WordPress recognises the importance of regular updates, and the dashboard provides direct access to the current version information and whether an update is available. Recent versions can also automatically update the system. Maintaining a routine of regularly auditing people's existing website content is also good practice. An audit of people's social media channel content will be a lighter touch as the editing options for existing content is different across the channels – and in some cases, it is a single binary option of keeping it as it is or deleting it. A less regular but further consideration for people's social media channels is of much greater significance. A less regularly considered aspect of maintaining people's presence is the need to keep pace with the wider changes that are continuously happening with websites, content management systems and social media channels. A further tool for continuous horizon scanning is a straightforward news feed or discovery service.
