ABSTRACT

While the smallest radio stations can be built into the corner of a room with little more than a computer and some domestic equipment, many will boast several studios, possibly each equipped to perform a different function. Commercial stations may also have a separate studio complex to make adverts, featuring a mixing desk and mics so that voice-overs can be recorded. During the pandemic of 2020/21, many radio and TV presenters found they could broadcast quite effectively from their home studios. Of course this is easier for radio presenters, with a link direct to their station or transmitters, a mic and a sound-treated room, a playout program on a laptop and a stable internet connection. The talks studio is an acoustically treated room for interviews and discussions. Guests sit around a circular or hexagonal table facing individual microphones. There will be visual contact with the main studio through a large glass window.
