Like so many developments in every industry the strengths and weaknesses had to be identified and lessons were learned. The deployment of the modern VJ evolved in a very simple way - the equipment got lighter. VJ operation is also good for discreet filming when a camera crew might be cumbersome or intimidating for sensitive matters. There are VJs providing material for the websites of newspapers, magazines, PR agencies, charities, government departments, trade unions, businesses and health organisations. Phones can get sound and pictures at a fraction of the cost of a crew or professional camera operation. This is a television method frequently also used by many newspapers to enhance coverage on their websites. Outdoor camera mics will be protected by a windshield of acoustic foam covered by a fluffy fur-fabric muff. This stops wind blowing across the microphone but does not stop the wanted sound getting to the microphone within.
