Going Live is about staying calm, talking only about what we know, avoiding speculation, avoiding any blur between fact and comment and ensuring good communication with the gallery. Most public locations should be fine but a bar full of drunks as a live location is asking for trouble. The best way to get through a live is to enjoy ourselves. Once mastered after a bit of practice, it is a lively and thrilling way to do television journalism. Political and business lives need more formal styles for both men and women – which usually means dressing in the same way as the people they interview.
