ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the topic of the smart grid system through the case of Xian city in northwest China. Wu refer to the construction of China’s smart grid system through information systems, which is aimed to make significant changes in the four areas of grid operation, energy management, social energy use patterns, and customer service. In China, the smart grid concept consists of all components used during the process, which can be divided into smart substation, smart distribution network, smart electricity meter, smart interactive terminal, smart dispatching, smart home appliances, and so on. Compared with the existing power grid, the smart grid embodies the remarkable characteristics of highly integrated power flow and information flow and business flow. The City of Xi’an is among the first batch of Chinese cities that have invested heavily in electric car infrastructure as well as a smart grid energy system.
