ABSTRACT

A smart city collects data utilizing various electronic methods and sensors to create an urban area that would fundamentally alter the way people live, work, and relate to one another. Smart city operations are optimized by the integration of multiple technologies, thus encouraging information and communication sharing across the smart city government. The rapid popularization of the concept of “Smart City” in recent years has a close relationship with China’s advancement of urbanization. A smart city is constructed in four layers: the sensor layer, network layer, platform layer, and application layer. The development of smart cities helps promote the coordinated and sustainable development of urban economy, society and environment, and resources. It also improves the quality of urbanization. Smart cities are also centered on a green output, a low-carbon emission, and integration with the circular economy that encourages reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials.
