ABSTRACT

This chapter will open with a vignette with “Anxious Annie” regarding how she feels when she has anxiety. The quote will refer to the topic of the chapter. The 5 levels of “WHY” will be introduced. Student examples of the 5 levels will be examined and discussed. Four basic needs (belonging, fun, freedom and control) will be introduced. The reader will learn how to correlate a basic need to the student’s WHY. Readers will learn how to assist students to construct their “statement” as to why they experience anxiety once their WHY and WHAT have been determined.
