ABSTRACT

This chapter will open with a vignette with “Anxious Annie” regarding how she feels when she has anxiety. The quote will reference the topic of the chapter. The HOW for addressing anxiety with students in each educational level will be discussed. Strategies to combat anxiety will be introduced and discussed at each developmental level: elementary school, middle/junior high school, high school and post-secondary. Strategies include: deep breathing, positive self-talk, cognitive distraction, journaling, meditation, positive affirmations, imagery, desk yoga, progressive muscle relaxation, printables, trigger trackers, etc.
