ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book presents the different problems affecting the emergency department and implements a flexible effective platform to reduce these problems, and increase patient/owner satisfaction. Many techniques can be used to improve an ED system such as applying lean Six Sigma, simulation modelling, introducing technology such as health information technology, or introducing the Internet of Things and medical telemonitoring. The book also presents a new extended type of Petri net for all types of queuing system such as hospitals, restaurants and theaters. This model is called resource preservation net where the main resources are human beings and are not consumable, siphons are controlled, and all resources return to their pools after accomplishing a certain task. Finally, the socio-economic benefits of the newly proposed platform, AMS, are discussed.
