ABSTRACT

All murders are homicides, but not all homicides are murders. This section dives deeper into the complexities of homicide detailed in the Introduction, where the reader first encountered the idea that not all killings will result in murder charges. From a very sick, elderly woman wanting to leave the earth on her own terms, to drinking too much at a sorority party, the cases and related critical thinking questions cast the reader in the roles of law enforcement officer and district attorney, asking them to decide who, if anyone, in these cases should be facing charges.
