ABSTRACT

In 2020, many companies were forced to adjust rapidly as the global economy screeched to a halt in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. This chapter highlights the top countries that export services to the world and what their top services exports includes, the characteristics of firm-level service exporters, the impact on national economies, and the effects of the sector on the manufacturing and agricultural sectors. The services, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors are not mutually exclusive. The increasingly contributing role that the services sector plays in national economies also reveals the changes in production, output, and employment. The change in the political and economic landscape with the various markets offers opportunities and risks for US services-based companies exporting to these markets. Overall, the global trend in the new economy has seen the rise in various types of cross-border services.
