ABSTRACT

Teens tend to be interested in themes of coming of age, identity, first romance and embarking on new adventures. Someone in their 60's might be more interested in trying new things, breaking out of defined roles and themes around legacy. Teens would be more inclined to experiment with new technology, chaotic images and experimental visuals. Seniors might feel more comfortable with ease of use, soothing images and references to larger works or questions. Head-mounted display (HMDs) are the ideal viewing method. They fully immerse the viewer so they can feel as if they are physically within the narrative. HMDs offer the ability to view the content stereoscopically, meaning the image in front of each eye differs just a little bit to add the perception of depth to the viewer. Virtual Reality crews can be notably smaller than traditional film and theater crews, but do not assume this will necessarily be the case for people's particular project.
