ABSTRACT
This chapter explores how whiteness as a defining characteristic of elite universities is embedded within forms of capital that determine student outcomes. In addition, it analyses how whiteness as a form of power lies at the heart of elite universities’ core structural procedures and values. It argues that whiteness is embodied as valuable within the individual characteristics of all social actors associated with elite universities, including graduate students.
