ABSTRACT

Chapter 10 discusses offenses that prohibit behavior that is dangerous and/or offensive to the majority, while still allowing the greatest degree of freedom for the individual. In this chapter, the offenses of disorderly conduct, vagrancy, and loitering are discussed. Crimes of drunkenness and drug use/possession/sale can be considered crimes against public peace, as well as public morals, so they are presented in this chapter. Counter-terrorism laws are more commonly thought of as being federal, but states also have laws directed toward terroristic activities as well as riot and associated other crimes against the public peace. These crimes will also be covered in this chapter.
