ABSTRACT
This chapter defines medication misuse, both accidental and intentional. It will cover types of overdose from minor to major and will also cover issues around patients using too little medication. It will explore issues around fraud and abuse of psychotropic medications, and practitioner protections against abuse of prescription medications, including what to do if abuse is suspected, and what to do when abuse occurs. The role of the pharmacist as an ally will be specifically focused on.
