ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the impact of labour market changes, including those caused by technological change, on what students expect from the educational process. The rapid pace of technological change in recent decades and the automation process in particular lead to increasing uncertainty in the labour market and problems in determining the right job profiles for the future. Innovative, high-tech industries require a good university base in order to ensure a steady inflow of qualified staff. Student satisfaction surveys, among other things, are intended to reduce the negative consequences for universities resulting from dropout and transfer rates. Expectations from universities are also changing due to the increasing popular awareness that purely quantitative economic growth must be superseded by sustainable development. Research on student satisfaction with the process of education is fairly extensive and has produced a number of non-obvious findings. The perception of universities by students is also influenced by the commercialisation of higher education.
