ABSTRACT

This chapter documents the importance of leisure, both individual hobbies and organized activities and outings, in facilitating well-being, health and happiness for aged care residents. It highlights the transformative possibilities of diverse and creatively challenging participatory creative-arts activities for fostering well-being and lifelong learning and how older women and men experienced aged care differently, documenting the importance of spaces specifically for men in aged care (e.g. Men’s Sheds and activities).
