ABSTRACT
This chapter explains several categories of aviation operations within the general aviation sector and considerations specific to helicopter operations and business aviation. International regulations impacting aviation operations are described, with specific emphasis on how aviation professionals are trained and licensed. The chapter concludes with a case study on the Colgan Air flight 3407 accident, which had a direct impact on aviation regulations in the United States
