ABSTRACT

Auguste Rodin so valued his sculpture The Thinker that he chose it as his tombstone. Created in 1880, The Thinker depicts a strong, modern man, lonely and lost in thought – completely still, although the sculpture is often praised for its dynamic quality. Bodily movement, then, in the middle of the spectrum provides a way to birth ideas and create new syntheses, making known new info to new ideas. The bodymind processes are positively impacting one another, revitalizing both. Experiencing tensegrity amplifies one’s understanding of how the body and mind must work together to produce and generate knowledge. Stillness can expand the through meditative practices where the bodymind connection quietens, relaxes, and soothes frenzied experiences. Small gestures or typing make space for the brain to generate the future through new ideas, new pathways through words or drawings.
