ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses technology and innovation have the power to bring about a work-free society for most people, i.e. “living for free”. It examines a new type of integrated production and distribution will be developed, known as “distruction”. “Distruction” means the emergence of processing power, storage capacity, artificial intelligence and non-visible “robots” in artificial intelligence networks, as well as in 3D printers located near customers. Economic singularity will be the result of the automation of production, distribution and the consumption element of the economy. The digital economy, intelligent robots and artificial intelligence will drive the new “distribution highway”. To exaggerate the point somewhat, it might be said that the trend is that the distribution channels will become the production channels. The chapter aims to focus on five main elements of this 2040 scenario: production, distribution, consumption, capital and competence. Consumption is geared, not only towards goods and services, but also towards culture.
