ABSTRACT

The goal is an organization in which everyone is engaged and working in concert. Organizations must hire the talent they need to support the strategy. But, hiring talent isn’t sufficient. Align the Architecture: Ensuring the organization’s systems, structures, processes, and culture all shape effort toward execution of the strategy. Aligned architecture creates organizational gravity, a sort of unseen force that pulls people in the right direction. This chapter focuses on using the strategy-execution-results Framework to drive the execution of organization’s strategy to better results. Execution must start with a compelling purpose or strategic intent. Team members need to know where you want to go. They can’t execute something that they don’t comprehend. When they understand strategic intent and they have the responsibility and autonomy to act, they can get excited about moving the organization in that direction.
