ABSTRACT

Consistent with the scientific nature of organisational behaviour, strategy is grounded in social, rather than technical, science. The initial focus of the strategy was the design of a program of organisational transformation and renewal. The answers require a rethinking of current strategy, a reinvigoration of the leadership team and staff and an investment in the ‘right’ resource base to justify investment. Acting in sympathy with the board’s opinion, T-wI Chief Executive Officer Gene Arrowsmith recently announced that he had appointed external consultants to conduct a strategic review of Security Printing and Packaging Division (SPPD). The SPPD story, describes how newly appointed Division Managing Director Jenny Wong and her recently appointed Chief Strategy Officer Alicia Manning sought to design, develop and then implement a Long Term Strategy. The chapter also presents an overview on the key concepts discussed in this book.
