ABSTRACT

There are multiple opportunities for residents to interact directly with nature in the Helsinge garden village. The project, Helsinge Nord Udviklinngspan, was sponsored by the Gribskov Municipality in 2016. The masterplan was developed along three primary themes: creation of a robust sustainable design integrated into the natural environment, creation of community fostering a strong sense of identity, and creation of affordable lifestyles with provision of affordable homes. According to the institute, YouGov, made for the Homeowners Knowledge Database, Bollus, their analysis showed that every fifth person living in the city today plans to live in the countryside in 2030 calling for a better, healthier living environment, greater community building, and affordability. Helsinge Haveby is regenerative; as in biology, it supports the process of renewal, restoration, and new growth. A food hub is centrally located within the masterplan and provides a meeting place for residents and visitors.
